Austen Barrowclough

Austen signed his first professional rugby contract with Oldham Roughyeds at the age of 19. By this time, he had already represented Serbia on 5 occasions. While at Oldham, Austen also had his own personal training and nutrition business and began supplying many of the boys at the club with weight training and nutrition programmes to help enhance their athletic performance. It was then that he realised even in professional sport athletes are not receiving the correct weight training and nutrition advice.
After 4 years of planning how he could provide athletes with the correct knowledge on weight training and nutrition Austen started Ekspert Sports Performance. This way he can provide amateur and semi professional athletes from all over the world with correct training and nutrition plans.
Austen also attended university studying sports marketing, he graduated with a first class honours in 2015.

Jay Hanson

Jay entered the world of fitness via kickboxing at high school. It was when he met his idol Lance Lewis, former British, European and World kickboxing champion that he decided that the fitness industry would be his career when he left school. Lance Lewis introduced Jay to some legendary names within the martial arts industry where he learnt many new techniques and training methods.

While Jay was competing in freestyle karate, kickboxing and K1, Jay was attending Huddersfield New College studying sports science. Jay’s love for sport continued and he enrolled at Sheffield Hallam University to study sports development with coaching. This course allowed Jay to enhance his knowledge what it takes to athletically develop and improve athletes.

Jay took his love for sport one step further and launched his own business at the age of 21. He delivers specialised strength training and also life coaching to children and adults of all ages. In his growing portfolio he has also delivers regular sessions to Huddersfield Town football junior teams.

Ekspert Sports performance are excited to work with Jay, whose motivation, passion, experience and knowledge will be a huge asset to Team ESP.

Dean Hanson

Dean has been enthusiastic about sports from a young age and has participated in football, athletics and boxing. Dean attended Huddersfield New college where he studied sports science. While still attending college, Dean gained a coaching qualification in football, rugby and dodgeball. He then continued his studies at Staffordshire University where he studied physical activity, health and exercise science. Dean is also now a qualified personal trainer where he delivers sports specific training sessions to a variety of clients.

Dean brings great knowledge and motivation to Team ESP and has a strong understanding of how to make weight training functional for sport.

Christian Summers

Christian brings great knowledge and experience to team Ekspert Sports Performance. He is starting a Masters degree in September 2016 after graduating from the famous sports university UCLan, where he studied Strength and Conditioning. As well as this, Christian has worked with the Featherstone Rovers first team and also with Wigan Warriors under 19 team. He is also currently the head strength and conditioning coach for UCLan men’s rugby league team.
Christian has also represented the North West University’s regional rugby league team, where he puts his knowledge to good use in bettering himself as an athlete.

  • 3rd year BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning
  • Starts Masters in September 2016
  • REPS certified level 2 gym instructor
